Recently, we came across TinEye (www.tineye.com) which is a brilliant, and currently free, resource for checking the originality of images online in seconds.
This is an incredibly useful tool for customers buying designs to help ensure the designs they purchase aren't infringing copyright and are original. It is also a very useful for our freelance graphic designers to ensure any of their designs aren't inadvertantly infringing copyright!
Review of TinEye.com
Here's how it works:
1> Get an image you want to check
For example, we wanted to check the originality of the 'dog' design below. The URL for this image is: https://storage.designcrowd.com/design_img/3590/14231/14231_57346_3590_image.jpg
2> Provide your image URL to TinEye
Submit your image URL on the TinEye home page and click the Search button:
3> TinEye finds similar in seconds!
Click search and voila! Seconds later you can see the results of a web wide search in your browser. TinEye found 1 result for our dog image example (which you can see below or here). Turns out the dog used in our image is also a vector clipart on Vecteezy.com (not what you want in a logo and not original work!).
In summary, TinEye is brilliiant.
Thank you TinEye - DesignCrowd digs you!
